Happy Friday, caffeinated cook!
You know that thing that happens when you grind your coffee beans, pull out the drawer and empty the ground coffee into the filter or French press? Static electricity causes some of the ground coffee to stick to the chamber and you have a mess. You put the drawer back in the grinder, and it won’t go all the way in because it’s gritty.
It annoyed me for decades.
Recently, I learned a trick that prevents it. Not only that, but I refined my drip coffee game so that every single morning outstanding coffee fills our cups. Not just very good, like it used to be, but outstanding. And it always tastes as delicious as the last time.
You may think this is a small thing; the difference between a very good cup and an outstanding cup is not that great. But if you love coffee, a consistently excellent brew is meaningful. The reason I know this is when we had an overnight guest recently, Wylie boasted that I make really good coffee. Not something he’d ever noted in the past!
I’m going to tell you exactly how I brew the perfect pot morning after morning — and how to adjust to your own taste, so it’ll be perfect for you. And those grounds will never again stick to the grinder drawer. Hopefully, even if you already have a coffee routine you love, you’ll pick up something useful here, too.
